Joining Ginny.
I’m about to start the ribbing at the bottom of Inland. I’m trying to decide if I want to omit the last buttonhole and make it shorter, or continue on and knit until it’s the pattern’s recommended length. After that, I’ll just have the sleeves and the pockets left to knit. The KAL ends on the 9th, so I might just make it after all, despite my not-so-minor setback.
Oh, the buttons. I almost forgot about the buttons. I haven’t purchased any yet. I’m no sure what I want. Wood? Horn? Round? Square? They need to be rather large and there will be eight (or nine) of them. I will have to start looking online. Does anyone have a recommendation for an online store that sells pretty buttons?
It was windy and cool all day yesterday. I wore a sweater. Granted, it’s a thin cotton sweater, and I paired it with sandals, but still, it was the first sweater I’ve worn in months, and that is quite the phenomenon in Washington state. Fall is coming. Windy nights, chilly days. Burning wood stoves and hot cups of tea. I can’t wait.
I love yarn along days! Yarn is beginning to become my number one passion. Your sweater is coming along beautifully! Excited to see your finished project. Have you heard of Wooly Moss Roots? They have gorgeous handmade buttons on etsy. I’m with you…Fall could not come sooner for me. We got a small taste of it the past week or so but are back up into hot and muggy temps again. Soon….soon! I can feel Fall coming!
Jeanette, that’s so funny that you mentioned Wooly Moss Roots! Just this morning, I was sitting at the table and drinking coffee and I thought to myself Wait, I think one of the Small Things sponsers sells buttons… I think I will peruse their site today. Thanks so much for the suggestion! Great minds think alike (obviously). Wishing cooler weather your way!
Personally, I like longer sweaters because then I can wear leggings and the sweater covers up my bum – not one of my finer assets. But, maybe you don’t have that insecurity. LOL. I love the color you picked out. Reminds me of autumn.
Kelly, I totally agree. However, I don’t want to cross that fine line between tunic and dress! Thanks for the compliments!
This is so gorgeous! Love the colour and the cosy look 🙂
Thank you, Elise. Beautiful name, btw.
I want to wear a sweater. I’ve been eyeing them in my bottom drawer all folded neatly…but it’s too darn hot and humid here still. I am in MA. I love Washington State though…I lived there for about 2 years in my early twenties. But, I am a New England girl and felt the mad call to go back home.
New England is beautiful, I don’t blame you. And just wait; I bet you will be wearing sweaters by the end of the month!
Inland looks great and great that you might get the deadline. I would say frogged if I went right back, ripped back if we are talking a few rows! I love choosing buttons, hope you had fun!
Thanks, Lucy. I think I have finally chosen the right buttons. I’ll debut them when the sweater is finished!
What a great sweater!! I have sweater envy! I am tall, so I like making things I can adjust to fit my non-retail sizing!! I like them long, but it’s fun that you get to decide. On the buttons, I’ve come to realize lately, that I lean forward to a desk quite a bit and different things, like shank buttons are not as comfortable as the flat ones. I’ve admired those MOSSY buttons, too!
Thanks, Karen! It is cool to be able to tailor a sweater to your exact dimensions. I think I finally chose the right buttons! Hopefully everyone likes them!
