My Inland sweater is coming along nicely; I’ve divided for the sleeves and will begin waist shaping in the next day or two. While I’m happy with the yarn choice color-wise, I do wish there was a way to keep bulky yarn from pilling. The yarn is already starting to develop that hazy look that bulky yarn tends to create when it rubs against something or is worn excessively. Still, I think it will be a very warm sweater and I will probably wear it a lot this fall and winter.
Reading-wise, I’m taking a break. Canning consumes most of my free time and once the kids are in bed it takes all of my remaining energy to knit a few rows before crashing. Perhaps next week I’ll have time to pick up a book.
I hear you on the three rows then crashing! The sweater looks great and will indeed be cosy.
Thanks, Lucy!
beautiful color!
Thank you so much. It’s called Brass Heather.
I love the colour and bulkier yarn does mean warm and cosy 🙂
Thank you!
Truly Myrtle wrote an article about pilling earlier in the week and she says yarns stop pilling after a while. That hasn’t quite been my experience, but then I don’t usually work with wool, and I tend to shave off the pills – with my 20-something year old rotary shaver. Pretty color!
Hi Becki,
I will check out that article, but I agree, I don’t think I’ve ever had a sweater stop pilling once it started. I shave my pills as well with a pumice stone. Seems to do the trick but it does get tiresome. Thanks so much for the info!
Hello from Central Washington! 🙂 The bulky yarn for your sweater looks so cozy. Canning SHOULD be consuming my days but I only just started today with a couple canner-loads of peaches. Everything seems to ripening earlier than usual over here too so – whew! I better get moving! Fall is really when I go nuts with putting stuff up. Enjoyed poking back through your last few posts!
Hi Sarah (great name, btw),
It must be the heat because you’re right, everything is ripening early this year. I wasn’t canning this much last year until the mid September time frame. Today is Operation Can Dilly Beans. Should be an all day thing. Glad you enjoy the blog, and good luck with your canning journey. Stop by again soon!
I just love the color of your yarn and it appears to be squishy and soft too!
Thanks so much Kim. I hope it looks as good on me as it does on the needles!
